After being the dominant player of premium accommodation for many years, competition finally caught up.
The local market had an influx of additional room stock along with the bombardment of multiple brands entering the market, all which lead to a depression in the supply demand ratio.
What once came easy, now had to be chased hard, with a big risk of starting a race to bottom for price! A delicate balance at the best of times.
Furthermore, the owner found it particularly difficult to attract highly skilled talent to its regional location, making it even harder to compete against the new big boys in town!
A Gap Analysis helped to create a Master Strategy of improvement projects to undertake. However, even before the projects had begun, we immediately set up a virtual revenue management service for the client.
This service helped to not only manage their inventory for better market share and profitability, but it also began educating the teams in best practice pricing, marketing and distribution.
We facilitated a brand change decision they had been sitting on for 3 years and then helped with the implementation over to the new alliance with Event Hospitaility.
To further the results we also delivered a virtual BDM/Sales Manager service to help maintain and grow thier corporate account base.
The occupancy is through the roof, we are almost 90% at times throughout this past 6 months. There is no way we could have achieved that whilst trying to run a busy hotel and manage the accommodation side.
